i wish i could do stuff like this in photoshop. i just hate brushes so much, and not having a tablet they're practically impossible for me. i much prefer vectors and the pen tool, lol.

Without the tablet, I wouldn't be using photoshop - it's a TOTAL BITCH even with the tablet. I just kinda have one brush that's automatically on there that I use for everything, because I'm really, really lazy. It's strange, I can work for hours and hours on one traditional piece, but I feel like I should be able to finish digital work real quick since, well, it's on the computer.
I really need to take me some digital art classes....

yeah, i have a hard time putting a lot of hours in on digital stuff too, which is why i didn't do any excellent work in first semester 2D. i just didn't feel effort should have been necessary. i do really love illustrator though, working with the pen tool on there is about the only time i put in real work, though even that is less than for traditional stuff. i should put up the piece i did in IL for father's day, it turned out pretty well. i should take some digital art classes too, i passed up the opportunity for one this semester to take web design instead, not really sure i should have. (i also passed up animation which i'm currently rethinking.)

I did decent work in 2d, but it was all in illustrator. I've never really had much photoshop training, just what I learned in a summer at ringling three years ago.
UGH I WOULD KILL FOR AN ANIMATION CLASS ;.;

yeah, most of ours was illustrator too. we did some photoshop second semester, but it wasn't *any* brushwork, it was all changing things that already existed, blending layers and whatnot. which i need practice on, i've already forgotten half of it.
do you have any animation classes? or is it that you don't have any time for them?

Brushes were not colored AT ALL AT ALL. Just pen tool/vectors, etc. Grr.

aww that sucks D: you should try finding a summer class or something so you can take some.
i have a feeling i probably won't become good at brushes any time soon *sigh* but i can do other things, that are less annoying, so it's okay.
